Author Book Signing: Pamela Bauer Mueller

Meet Pamela Bauer Mueller and obtain personalized copies of Splendid Isolation: The Jekyll Island Millionaire’s Club 1888-1942.  Mueller has received an array of state and national awards for her many works of fiction.  This is her third historical novel, unfolding the lives of the wealthy American tycoons who spent their winters on Jekyll Island.

Legacy TourOur Legacy Preserved

For five gilded decades, America’s leaders visited Jekyll Island “to secure an escape” from the demands of their everyday lives and pursue “a life of elegant leisure.”  An interpreter escorts small groups through the historic district and inside several cottages of the Jekyll Island Club for an intimate look at ongoing efforts to preserve the stories of these men and women who shaped America.  Cottages vary, depending on seasonal availability.

ticket_icon_teaserIn 1886, 53 prominent Jekyll Island Club members created an exclusive gilded era island retreat for family and friends on Georgia’s coast. These empire builders shaped our nation’s future.  Now step into their past. This guided tram tour of the 240-acre National Historic Landmark District includes entry into two restored cottages.

When: January 1 – November 28, 2014 at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm daily.  Approximately 90 minutes.
Where: Departs from the Jekyll Island Museum, 100 Stable Road, 912-635-4036.
Cost: $16 for Adults; $7 for children ages 7-15; Free for children 6 and under.



Introduce yourself to the Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark District with the best of our extensive archive of photos, oral histories, diaries, and rare home-movie footage. The Club member’s stories come alive in the voices of members, staff, visitors, and experts who have worked to preserve the island’s history.  These self-guided tours include a walking guide of the National Historic Landmark District and interactive multi-media device rental.

When: Available 9:00 am to 3:00 pm daily.  Approximately 2 hours.
Where: Departs from the Jekyll Island Museum, 100 Stable Road, 912-635-4036.
Cost: E-Guide rentals are $8 each.

Historic Faith ChapelHistoric Faith Chapel

Enjoy the charming chapel that Club Member Frederic Baker wanted to be “worthy of the island.”  Delight in the architectural whimsy of its animal carvings, terra cotta gargoyles, and Tiffany and Armstrong stained glass windows.

When: The Chapel is open from 2:00 – 4:00 pm daily (subject to prior private rentals)
Cost: Admission is free. No reservations are needed.
