Spring Itinerary

Spring into action.

Why wait until summer to enjoy an unforgettable getaway when you can experience it right now? From classic car shows and art festivals to breathtaking beauty and family fun, springtime is a great time to visit Jekyll Island. Take a look at a small sampling of what our beautiful island has to offer.

Adventure – It’s in Our Nature

Glory Beach Park – There’s a lot in a name; not only is this pristine beach a bird sanctuary where you can see nature in all of its glory, it’s also the site where portions of the movie Glory were filmed. Come see it for yourself and shoot a few epic pictures of your own.

Gatorology 101 – Even Georgians are gator fans by the end of this class. You and your family will learn about the American alligator’s biology, behavior, and conservation during this hands-on experience that is both educational and exciting.

Gatorology 101

Gatorology 101 is a don’t miss, hands-on learning experience for kids and adults of all ages.

Mary Ann Mast – A little over 20 years ago, the Mary Ann, a push-style shrimp boat, became stranded and sank close to shore. Since then, the rusted wreck has been slowly devoured by the beach sands. Today, the mast is still visible and is one of the island’s most photographed landmarks.

2018 Meets 1890

Hollybourne Cottage – Travel back in time with a special, behind-the-scenes tour of Hollybourne Cottage, the only Jekyll cottage that is yet to be fully restored. Architecturally unique and rich in character, Hollybourne has many stories to tell – and it wants you to hear them.

Hollybourne Cottage

Hollybourne Cottage was built in 1890 by Jekyll Island Club member Charles Stewart Maurice, who helped construct many road and railway bridges across the U.S.

Come Out and Play

Golf for All Ages and Talent Levels – Whether it’s a fun, family outing of mini golf or a round of championship-level competition you’re seeking, you’ll find it here. Located across from the Atlantic Ocean and Great Dunes Park, Jekyll Island Mini Golf is an opportunity to enjoy time together as well as gentle ocean breezes. On the other hand, Jekyll Island Golf Club features four courses as well as family tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. So, if you prefer golfing that is as breathtaking as it is challenging, look no further.

Golf

Golfing Georgia’s largest public golf resort is a dream. On Jekyll Island you’ll play among pristine lakes, marshes and forests, and alongside the island’s favorite residents – alligators, osprey, and deer.

Savor Every Moment

Beach House – ‘Spring is in the air’ means much more at Beach House. There’s no missing the enticing aroma of steamed, wild Georgia shrimp or a hand-cut New York strip being cooked to perfection. When you add the soothing scent of the ocean air and a full bar with 24 beers on tap, well, that’s the recipe for an incredible dining experience. Come on by, we’re saving a table for you and your family.

Eventful Experiences

Caffeine and Octane Beach – Peace and tranquility are nice, but so is a little high-octane horsepower. Join thousands of other auto enthusiasts March 16-18 for Caffeine and Octane – an awe-inspiring car show that combines the breathtaking views of the Georgia coast with a sea of stunning vehicles ranging from vintage hot rods and motorcycles to the most innovative and luxurious sports cars on the road, today. You haven’t been to a car show until you’ve been to this one.

Turtle Crawl – Whether you’re an avid runner or just a curious observer, you and your family are sure to enjoy the annual Turtle Crawl, a set of races benefitting the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (GSTC). Since 2007, the GSTC has healed and released nearly 2,500 animals. So, lace up your shoes and have a good time for a great cause.

Jekyll Island Arts Association Annual Festival – Community and creativity come together at the 44th annual arts festival. This free, three-day event, March 9-11, features one-of-a-kind creations from hundreds of the nation’s most talented artists. It’s also an excellent way for everyone to experience the warmth of the spring and the fellowship of fellow art lovers. Live music, local fare, and a variety of artistic activities offer locals and visitors alike an opportunity to come together and have some fun.
