Fall Itinerary

Fall back for more summer fun.

While many put away their swimsuits and suntan lotion for the year, we’re still enjoying the fresh air and outdoor activities. There is so much to do and see on Jekyll Island during the summer that it’s only natural that we extend it into the fall. Plus, without the summer crowds, fall is the perfect time for a summer getaway.

The Outdoors is Never Out of Season

St. Andrews Beach Park – What a beautiful way to get closer to nature and your family. Just a short walk from Jekyll Point, St. Andrews Beach is a spectacular place to celebrate the season with migratory birds and playful dolphins. Bring a picnic and enjoy the show.

Ranger Walks – This isn’t your average walk in the forest. These guided tours take you through one of the Jekyll Island’s most diverse habitats featuring majestic bald eagles as well as area hallmarks such as alligators, turtles, and the great blue heron. Our programming is updated seasonally, so visit frequently to see what’s new and exciting on our Ranger Walks.

Ranger Walks

Spend your Saturday with the Jekyll Island Park Ranger exploring the island’s maritime forest, shoreline, and marshes.

Horton Pond/Tupelo Trail – Bring your camera and love for nature. Horton Pond is a place where wildlife thrives and guests are captivated. An observation deck offers prime views of birds, turtles, and alligators. The Tupelo Trail is a 0.7-mile loop that showcases some of the island’s most remarkable maritime plant communities.

Boating & Fishing – From dolphin sightseeing tours and airboat rides through the marshes to deep sea fishing excursions and inshore charter fishing, Jekyll Island is a boater’s and fisherman’s paradise. Whether you’re reeling in ‘the big one’ or simply watching the sunset from the open waters, it’ll be a trip you and your family will be talking about for years to come.

Paddleboarding & Kayaking – Adventure is waiting, and you are the captain. Kayaking and paddleboarding may be smaller in scale, but the opportunity to explore Jekyll Island’s waters couldn’t be bigger. You could see everything from manatees and horseshoe crabs to coastal birds and bottlenose dolphins.

Amphitheater – Step into the arena, close your eyes, and imagine the wailing guitars and thunderous applause from past concerts, or the intellectual majesty of a Shakespearian play. Now when you explore this hidden treasure, you discover nature itself is now the feature presentation. One of the biggest highlights of the show is found just down the scenic path to the pond where you will find one of the island’s most populated rookeries.

Take a Ride through History

Passport to the Century – Hop aboard our tram and enjoy a journey that spans 240 acres and more than 100 years. The Gilded Age comes to life during this 90-minute, guided tour that includes entry into two restored cottages and Faith Chapel. Some of the world’s most powerful families once vacationed here. Now, it’s your turn.

Hop on a charming red tram and get the definitive history on the island’s 240-acre National Landmark Historic District on the Passport to the Century tour.

Fun is on The Menu

Beach House – When fall arrives, some people think of pumpkin lattes and sweaters. Not here. We prefer football jerseys, a plate of fresh shrimp and grits, 24 beers on tap, and bunch of our closest friends living the beach life to the fullest. Drop by, relax, and experience fall in a whole new way.
