Rebecca has had a love for Southern Living from the time she could reach her grandmother’s bookshelf to grab one of our Annual Recipes books. Born and raised in Telfair County, Georgia, she fell in love with cooking early on and turned that passion into a career. She’ll share cooking tips and hints to make your life easier in the kitchen while keeping you entertained and well fed.  Learn to make fudgy zucchini cakes that are perfect for holiday giving.

All You Need is a Cast Iron Skillet, with Robby Melvin

Robby will be demonstrating the versatility of the cast iron skillet from the most complex menu items to the simplest – and why it’s the only choice for a cooking vessel.

Robby’s style of cooking is purely dictated by the season. September is the ringing in of Fall and the last hoorah of Summer. You have the beginning bounty and the closing bounty of each season, which makes for some delicious ingredients pairings. The recipes he will be sharing with you will reflect exactly that.

Rebecca Lang

Rebecca Lang

Rebecca Lang is an author, cooking instructor, television personality, and a ninth-generation Southerner. Born and raised in South Georgia, she is the author of The Southern Vegetable Book.

Her five other cookbooks include Fried Chicken (Ten Speed Press, May 2015) and Around the Southern Table (Oxmoor House, 2012). She has a culinary arts degree from Johnson & Wales University and a journalism degree from the University of Georgia. She has appeared on Food Network, Fox & Friends Weekend, multiple segments on QVC, WGN America’s Midday News, and numerous regional and local networks.

Rebecca and her cooking have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Southern Living, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Washington Post, the Houston Chronicle, Wine Enthusiast, FoxNews.com, The Daily Meal, Glamour and Fitness magazines. She serves as a Contributing Editor to Southern Living and teaches cooking classes across America.

She lives in Athens, GA, with her husband Kevin, and their children, Camden and Adair.

Kathryn Lott

Kathryn Lott

Kathryn Lott joined Southern Living in 2014 after serving as the Communications Director for the Serenbe Community located in Chattahoochee Hills, GA.

Now a member of the marketing team at Time Inc., Kathryn works primarily on establishing and maintaining licensing relationships for the Southern Living, Coastal Living and Sunset brands.

She studies trends and supports our product development team to create ongoing partnerships that elevate our brands.

The Licensing Collections among our Time Inc. Shelter Brands include everything from actual homes and developments, including the Southern Living and Coastal Living Communities, to the Southern Living home décor collection with Dillard’s.

Robby Melvin

Robby Melvin

Birmingham, AL native Robby Melvin studied English Literature and History at the University of Mississippi. Upon returning home to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham he decided to turn his college job into a career. Robby began working for James Beard Award winning Chef Frank Stitt, spending 6 years splitting time between Stitts three restaurants Highlands Bar and Grill, Bottega and Chez Fon Fon, where he served as Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine, respectively.

Robby then spent time under the tutelage of James Beard Award winning Chef Chris Hastings of the Hot and Hot Fish Club where he held the position of Chef de Cuisine. With a chance to share his acquired culinary skills, Robby taught for five years at Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College. In 2007 Robby opened Salt Fine Catering, bringing the restaurant experience to people’s homes and private venues.

February of 2013 Robby accepted the position of Test Kitchen Director at Southern Living Magazine, “the South’s most trusted kitchen”, where he oversees the development, testing and perfecting of the brands food content. In 2014 Robby proudly represented Southern Living as a James Beard Award Nominee for Culinary Journalism.

In 2016 Robby, along with his Southern Living Test Kitchen team, became apart of the Time Inc. Food Studios; where he is creating food content for not just Southern Living, but for Coastal Living, Cooking Light, and Real Simple to name a few.
