Public Input

The Jekyll Island Authority engages in several public input sessions throughout the year to gain citizen involvement on new and on-going projects. Sessions include periodic town hall meetings and “coffee and conversations” with key staff. The JIA Executive Director has an open-door policy for issues between sessions. Public Hearing for Proposed Revisions to 2014 Master Plan

The Board heard a presentation on a proposed amendment to its 2014 Master Plan to convert approximately 2.59 acres of undeveloped area to developed land for the purpose of authorizing the Georgia Power Company to relocate and expand its substation on Jekyll Island. The Board voted to approve the submittal of this proposed amendment to the required state entities. A public hearing on this matter will take place on October 6, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. at the Jekyll Island Convention Center, 75 Beachview Dr. N, Jekyll Island, GA 31527. Public comments will be taken at the public hearing. Public comments may also be submitted online. The Board of Directors of the Jekyll Island Authority will consider approval or rejection of the proposed amendment on December 8, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. at the Jekyll Island Convention Center, Ballroom A-B, 75 Beachview Dr. N, Jekyll Island, GA 31527.
