Shrimp & Grits: The Wild Georgia Shrimp Festival Cooking Competitions

Show off your cooking skills with the Shrimp & Grits Cooking Competitions. The Amateur Competition takes place on Saturday, September 19 and is reserved for chefs with less than 2 years of professional training or experience. The Professional Competition is on Sunday, September 20 and is reserved for chefs with 2 or more years of professional training or experience.

Applications are taken on a first come, first serve basis and are limited to 10 per competition.

10:30 AM Chefs' Briefing
11:00 AM Start Time (Chefs begin in 3 minute increments)
1:00 PM End Time for first chef (Chefs end in 3 minute increments)
1:00 PM Professional judging begins
1:15 PM Consumer Choice Panel judging begins
2:30 PM Awards
2:30 - 4:00 PM PM Clean-up.

Professional Competition Prizes:
First Place: $1000; Second Place: $800; Third Place: $500; Consumers' Choice: trophy and 5 lbs. of Wild Georgia Shrimp.

Tasting of the dishes prepared in the competition is limited to those in the Consumer Choice Panel. Consumer Choice Panel registration is $25 per person, per competition. It is $50 to be on both Consumer Choice Panels: Amateur and Professional competitions. To sign up for the consumer choice panel, visit the Information Tent at the Festival to get your taste testing tickets, instructions, and entry wristband.
