Welcome to Georgia's Jewel

Jekyll Island Georgia's JewelThe Parking Fee for entry to Jekyll Island is used to support conservation and stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of the Island. Fees are: $3 for a single entry; $4 for a single entry plus one re-entry; $12 for 3 consecutive days of unlimited entry; $24 for 7 consecutive days of unlimited entry; $35 for annual decal (unlimited entry for 12 months).

For Your Safety and Enjoyment you are asked to observe the following Island regulations: Motor vehicles are allowed on paved roads only; throughout the Island, the speed limit is 35mph unless otherwise posted. Overnight parking in public areas is not permitted. Bikes should be ridden on the paved bike paths; if necessary to ride on the street, please keep to the far right in single file; helmets are required for riders age 16 and under. Pets must be leashed or confined to the guest’s premises; stray animals are subject to impoundment. Electronic devices for detecting metals, minerals, artifacts or lost items are prohibited.

Safety Tips: The heat and humidity will dehydrate you quickly–drink plenty of water; protect your skin from the elements with sunscreen and insect repellent; while on the beach, observe tide changes and use caution on sand bars.

Jekyll’s Beach (over 10 miles) is open to the public year-round; swim at your own risk. Our sand dunes are natural buffers which protect inland areas and buildings from tides, winds and storms. Use crossovers for beach access and avoid walking on sand dunes or disturbing dune plants; State law prohibits picking or cutting sea oats. Take only empty shells and dead sand dollars; please return inhabited shells or brown (living) sand dollars to the water.

Help Preserve Jekyll’s Natural Wonders by respecting the Island’s wildlife. By law, 65% of Jekyll must remain undeveloped, making it a haven for creatures of all types. Sea Turtle season is May to August; minimize beach lighting and do not approach nesting female turtles. Birds are abundant on Jekyll–designated as an Important Birding Area by the Georgia Audubon Societies; do not disturb resting birds and please avoid the primary dunes during Spring and Summer nesting seasons, especially on the Island’s south end. Migratory birds are protected by law. Deer are part of Jekyll’s native population; be aware of them when driving, especially at night. Please do not hand feed any animal; State law prohibits feeding alligators.
