The Revitalization of Jekyll Island is Underway!
Jekyll Island is aiming to become a model conservation community on the Georgia Coast that will serve the world as a premier vacation and convention destination.  Our goal is also to facilitate the conservation of our irreplaceable coastal environment and the preservation of historic sites for the benefit of future generations.

JEKYLL OCEAN OAKS
We celebrated the ground breaking for an all-new Hampton Inn & Suites hotel, at the site of the former Holiday Inn & Suites. This 138-room hotel will be combined with a restaurant and meeting space, and an additional small 88-room boutique hotel and 64-unit condominium.  We expect a grand opening in summer 2009.

JEKYLL ISLAND CLUB HOTEL
In anticipation of business growth, the Jekyll Island Club began complete interior renovation of all 134 guest rooms in the Main Clubhouse, Annex and Sans Souci! The expansion of exsisting meeting space is also underway.

JEKYLL ISLAND OCEANFRONT CLARION RESORT
We’re thrilled to announce the conversion of the current Jekyll Oceanfront Clarion Resort to include a 78-unit condominium and 180-room Suites Hotel.  The new hotel will be LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), and should begin construction in March 2009.

JEKYLL ISLAND BEACH LIGHTING ORDINANCE
A recent ordinance was passed to forever protect the active sea turtle nesting beaches from the negative effects of artificial light. All new development along with current facilities must be in compliance with the new ordinance.

CANOPY BLUFF
Construction will begin soon on a hotel/condominium resort project at the former site of Buccaneer Beach Resort. New plans include 285-room hotel, a 127-unit condo-hotel and 15,000 sq. ft. conference center. Amenities will include wedding garden, spa, restaurant, two swimming pools. Canopy Bluff will also be the first LEED-certified resort & conference on the East Coast.

JEKYLL ISLAND DESIGN GUIDELINES
While already put into practical use, the Design Guidelines dictate the architectural design, height, scale and density of all new construction. The Design Guidelines were developed with the Jekyll Island Authority by Cooper Carry, a leader in the field of connective architecture.
