The University of Georgia Press is pleased to announce the release of a new booked entitled, Spirits of the Air: Birds and American Indians in the South by Shepard Krech III. The book, which discusses how birds shaped the worldview of the southern Indians, will be launched with a series of special events held on Jekyll Island on May 1 and will include an afternoon book signing hosted by Jekyll Books at the Old Infirmary and an evening lecture and reception at Villa Marianne. Dr. Shepard Krech is a noted anthropologist, an avid birder and the great-grandson of Jekyll Island Club member Alvin Krech.
