Fishing & Boating

Just off Jekyll Island’s shores along the Intracoastal Waterway are the Jekyll Wharf and Jekyll Harbor Marina – two points of access to the many water activities along Coastal Georgia.  Make the Island your gateway to a fishing paradise or just a heavenly day of sightseeing or Dolphin spotting.  The island’s knowledgeable fishing captains, know all of the best spots to catch a variety of fish, including Tarpon, Whiting, Red Drum, Sea Trout, Triple Tail, Spotted Sea Trout, Striped Mullet, Sheepshead,  and Black Drum, just to name a few.

On Monday, December 15, 2008, the Georgia DNR and the Jekyll Island Authority cut the ribbon on its remodeled boat ramp! The new ramp is 50-ft wide allowing three boaters to launch or load simultaneously.  It is 130 feet long and extends well below the low tide line making it possible for boaters to safely launch and recover their vessels at all stages of the tide. The service dock now provides 200 feet of perimeter providing space for several boats.

For a relaxing day of beautiful scenery along the Georgia Coast, Jekyll Island offers Dolphin tours, Fishing Charters and Sailing trips. The Jekyll Harbor Marina and Jekyll Wharf offer additional options for boat owners to enjoy Jekyll Island’s off-shore waterways and the adjacent Atlantic Ocean, including slip rentals and daily boat launching services.
