The Hampton Inn & Suites on Jekyll Island is complete and open for business!
In January, 2010, The Jekyll Island Authority celebrated the opening on the Hampton Inn & Suites, the first new hotel to open on Jekyll Island since 1974! You can visit the Hampton Inn & Suites website to book reservations for your trip now!
The new facility offers 138 guest rooms, 88 of which are suites with balconies. Amenities include a lobby bar, beach access, revitalized nature trails, an expansive pool deck, a kid's pool and a large hot tub. The hotel, which utilizes solar panels for water heating, is a member of the Green Hotel Association, a group of environmentally-friendly properties whose managers are eager to institute programs that reduce solid waster and save water and energy.
"The Hampton Inn project is an excellent example of what our intention is for the overall revitalization of Jekyll Island," said Bob Kruger, Chairman, Jekyll Island Authority Board. "These additional rooms are vital as Jekyll Island once again becomes a choice destination for conventions and family vacations. This is a win for the Jekyll Island Authority, a win for hotel owners and a win for guests who choose to stay at this hotel."
The new hotel was constructed on the basic footprint of the former Holiday Inn, preserving the oak tree canopy that is unique to the site. The hotel features boardwalks through maritime forest and over protected sand dunes. The adjacent beach is the widest and most pristine on Jekyll Island, with wonderful views of Cumberland Island and the Atlantic Ocean. The developer was Jekyll Ocean Oaks LLC, and includes partners that also own and operate the historic Jekyll Island Club Hotel.
