Revitalization Sites

Following are the projects of Jekyll Island's revitalization. In the midst of an unprecedented economic recession, Jekyll Island continues to move forward with its plans necessary for the infrastructure redevelopment of Jekyll Island. The projects will create construction jobs with a payroll of more than $56 million.

Hampton Inn & Suites

Hampton Inn & Suites

The first new hotel to the island since 1974, the Hampton Inn & Suites offers 138 guest rooms, 88 of which are suites with balconies. Amenities include a lobby bar, beach access, revitalized nature trails, an expansive pool deck, a kid's pool, and a large hot tub. The property utilizes solar panels for water heating, and the hotel is a member of the "Green" Hotel Association.

Great Dunes Park

Great Dunes Park offers 20 acres of beachfront space with picnic pavilions, a deck for beach events, a play area, beach access for the public, and more. Structural features to protect the environment include dune restoration, where appropriate, bio-swells to capture and treat storm-water run-off, sea-turtle-friendly lighting, and signage to educate visitors about the environment.

Morgan Center

Morgan Center

The 1929 Morgan Tennis Center is undergoing an adaptive reuse for meeting space during construction of the new convention center. Exterior and interior renovations, which will include the addition of restrooms and an event balcony, will make the building suitable for weddings, meetings, banquets, and other events. With over 5,900 square feet of meeting space situated in our historic district this function space will become a premier meeting destination for Georgia and beyond.

New Jekyll Island Convention Center

The new 128,000 square foot ocean front Jekyll Island Convention Center, scheduled to open in summer 2012 will provide 78,000 square-foot of prime meeting space. The facility will be integrated into its natural beachfront location in a manner that minimizes impact on the environment while creating a wonderful and unique guest experience. The structure will be Leed Silver Certified and have two new adjacent hotels offering 340 new hotel rooms to our existing inventory of 1,000 hotel rooms. This will all be set along side the beach with our signature beach village as your attendees shopping and dining location.

Entrance to Jekyll Island

Improvements to the Jekyll Island entry corridor will take advantage of existing live oaks to enhance the intimate character of the Jekyll Island entry experience. The Greeting Station will be relocated near the existing visitor's center and offer our guests a tranquil and safe entry to this unique barrier Island.

Beach Village Retail Shops

The future Jekyll Island Beach Village Retail Shop area will be a popular destination for Jekyll Island guests and residents with an attractive village green and charming stores. Plans include approximately 30,000 square feet of retail space located adjacent to our new convention center.

Beach Village Lodging

Beach Village Lodging

Current plans call for a 135-room mid scale Hyatt Place hotel and a 200-room full service beachfront hotel located adjacent to our beach village and new convention center.
