Today the State of Georgia and the Jekyll Island Authority recognize that this opportunity to escape and recharge can be made available to the people of Georgia and the same characteristics that attracted the early industrialists to the island can be enjoyed by all. Every aspect of revitalization is scrutinized by the Jekyll Island Authority and its Board of Directors to make sure that each development site keeps to our guidelines and ordinances.

Timeline for Completion of Conservation Plan
A public meeting to discuss the March 7, 2011 draft of the Conservation Plan has been scheduled for Friday, March 25. The meeting will be held at the Jekyll Island Historic District Convention Campus, Magnolia Hall from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The public meeting on March 25 will be held in order to review the key revisions and additions to the plan and also engage in public comments, questions and input. The public meeting will be video recorded and posted on the website for those not able to attend. Public input on this draft and any follow up comments from the March 25 public meeting will be accepted until April 1st. Comments should be sent to Jay Exum, Terry Norton From that point, it is expected that a final draft will be prepared for presentation to the Jekyll Island Authority Board of Directors at a regularly scheduled Board Meeting. All Jekyll Island Authority Board Meetings are open to the public.

Jekyll Island Design Guidelines
The Design Guidelines, developed for the Jekyll Island Authority by Cooper Carry - The Center for Connective Architecture, were adopted at the October 20th meeting of the Jekyll Island Authority Board. While the guidelines have already been in practical use they will now officially dictate the architectural design, height, scale and density of all new construction on the island.
